Bare Metal Recovery

Bare Metal Recovery (BMR) automates and accelerates full-scale recovery of bare-metal and hybrid virtualized/bare-metal application stacks.

CyberVR BMR creates near-instant thin digital twins of your production environment, whether that environment is virtual, bare-metal, or a hybrid of these.  These thin digital twins are fully instrumented to enable safe detection, remediation, and validation.

The digital twin environment is fully virtualized, can be as isolated, firewalled, or airgapped from your other networks as you need it to be, and eliminates the requirement for mirrored bare-metal server hardware.

Why is Bare Metal Recovery important?

Some workloads just can’t be virtualized, but they still need to be protected.

Many others are  better left physical and non-virtualized because of decreased efficiencies, increased licensing costs, application limitations, and other factors.

These workloads are typically each installed onto their own servers  or groups of servers without a virtualization layer, hence the term Bare Metal Servers.

Bare Metal Recovery Challenges
  • Need for mirrored hardware
  • OS level and patching
  • Applications, settings, and executables
  • Data consistency
  • Isolation of recovery area
  • Much more difficult to recover than virtualized servers

CyberVR & BMR

CyberVR doesn’t just enable virtualized, Bare Metal, and hybrid recovery for application stacks. It does so at speed, scale, and ease.

CyberVR integrates natively with storage arrays and utilizes volume snapshot, retention limits, and replication schedules set by the storage management software.

Integrating recovery within the single-click CyberVR recovery blueprint for any application stack means greater interoperability, multidisciplinary team coordination, and system testing for threat mitigation, remediation, and response.

Using these twins for Cyber-attack or disaster recovery, application/DB/patch testing, vulnerability/penetration assessment, and even training means you do so without impact or risk to your production environment.

Saving countless hours, days, or even weeks that might have been spent on recovery, testing, and verification by traditional methods can mean life-or-death levels of operational resilience.

Cyber resilience isn’t just training manuals or war game simulations or tabletop discussions or cyber ranges or tick-box compliance. It’s proven capabilities for business continuity against all the problems you haven’t even thought about yet: testing real responses in high-fidelity replicas of entire operating systems, taking into account the perspectives from all your different teams.
Unpredictable maintenance windows can strain team relationships
Identifying and maintaining a secure point in time for recovery is critical
Light storage improves by an order of magnitude for cyber security measures
Understanding nuances of threats faced is the only way to address them
Inclusion of customer-specific tools into CyberVR’s thin digital twins means they can be configured at their most aggressive level without fear of impacting production.
